Makes 6 servings

From Better Homes and Garden recipe book. Modified to use a whole package of Jennie-O ground turkey (instead of 12 oz ground beef). By increasing the meat (and bell pepper), I increase the servings from 4 to 6.

Recipe Ingredients for Chili (w/ ground turkey), BH&G

1 1/4 lb. turkey, ground
1 chopped green sweet pepper
1 cup chopped onion
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 ounce tomato sauce
15 ounce red kidney beans, rinsed & drained
14 1/2 ounce diced tomatoes, undrained
2 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried basil, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Recipe Directions for Chili (w/ ground turkey), BH&G

  1. In a 3-quart saucepan cook and stir ground turkey, sweet pepper, chopped onion, and the garlic over medium heat until meat is brown and onion is tender. Drain off fat.

  2. Stir in tomato sauce, undrained beans, undrained tomatoes, chili powder, salt, basil, and black pepper. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Simmer, covered, for 20 minutes. To serve, ladle chili into bowls. If desired, top each serving with cheese, chopped onion, and/or sour cream and pass crushed red pepper.
