Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Tikka Masala

1 lb skinless chicken breast
1 cup nonfat yogurt
1 tbls lemon juice
2 tsp cayenne
2 tsp ground black pepper
2 tsp cumin
2 tsp garlic
1/2 tbls ginger
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbls butter
1 serrano pepper
1/3 cup diced onion
1 tbls minced garlic
1 tbls garam masala
8 oz tomato sauce
1 cup half and half
1/2 tablespoon sugar

Recipe Directions for Chicken Tikka Masala

  1. Mix cayenne, cumin, garlic, ginger, and lemon juice with 1 cup of greek nonfat yogurt

  2. Marinate diced chicken breast in the yogurt mixture for a minimum of 1-2 hours

  3. Removed chicken from marinade and grill or broil until the chicken is no longer pink. Remove from heat and set aside

  4. Heat butter (or ghee) in a saute pan

  5. Add garam masala blend, diced onion, and pepper and saute for 3-5 minutes, or until onion and pepper becomes tender

  6. Add chicken, tomato sauce, and half and half and simmer for 30-45 minutes (adding sugar if desired)

  7. Serve with basmati rice or naan
