A variation of the sinigang. It uses tamarind leaves(usbong) as souring agent

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Sinigang sa Usbong

750 grams Chicken, stewing, meat and skin, raw
0.75 pouch Soup Base
5 cup (8 fl oz) Water
20 grams Ginger Root
2 dash Salt, Table
4 clove Garlic
1 slice, large (1/4" thick) Onions
2 serving Tamarind Leaves

Recipe Directions for Chicken Sinigang sa Usbong

  1. saute the garlic, onion and ginger.

  2. add the chicken and cook until color changes.

  3. add tamarind leaves.

  4. saute with the chicken until aroma is smelled.

  5. add water and the sinigang mix.

  6. simmer for 15 minutes.

  7. adjust taste with salt.

  8. serve
