A delicious, enticing twist on chicken pie! Taken from The Gode Cooke, a medieval cookbook. Great for fancy occasions or everyday!

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken savory pie with Cranberries

2 lbs chicken breast
1/2 cup dried cranberries
1 cup honey
1 frozen pie crust
2 tsp. saffron
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. ginger
1 whole egg

Recipe Directions for Chicken savory pie with Cranberries

  1. Cover chicken with water and boil until tender. Remove chicken from water and let cool, until you can slice it. Continue boiling the chicken broth, and salt and pepper to taste. Let broth boil for about an hour. When cool, cut chicken into pieces. Add honey, egg, and spices to the chicken and mix. Add just enough broth to make the rest moist.

  2. Pre-cook the pie crust for about 10 minutes- just before it starts to brown.

  3. Add chicken mixture to the pie pan and bake about 45 minutes, or until the liquid is bubbling.
