Chicken Pullao--this Indian dish is a complete meal on its own but is also delicious served with a lentil dish, such as Tarka Dhal. Can also add 1/3 cups frozen peas to this dish.

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Pullao

6 tsp butter
1 medium onion
1/4 tsp mustard seeds
3 Curry Powder
1 tsp Ginger Root
1 tsp Garlic
1 tsp ground coriander
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 1/2 tsp salt
2 Tomatoes Sliced
1 oz Potatoes
1 cup,+chopped+or+diced Chicken
2 cups basmati rice
4 tsp chopped fresh cilantro
2 oz Green Chillies
3 cups water

Recipe Directions for Chicken Pullao

  1. Soak rice for 30 minutes and then strain

  2. In a medium sauce pan, melt butter and fry onion until golden.

  3. Add mustard seeds, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, ground coriander, chili powder, and slat. Stir fry about 2 minutes.

  4. Add sliced tomatoes, cubed potato, peas (optional) and chicken and mix well.

  5. Add rice and stir gently to combine.

  6. Finally, add fresh chopped cilantro and 2 fresh green chillies chopped. Pour in the water.

  7. Bring to a boil and lower the heat. Cover and cook for about 20 minutes.
