Pennsylvania Dutch at it's finest! Although Celery and carrots or potatoes are more traditional...I just didn't have them!

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Pot Pie

5 lb whole Chicken
8 c. Water
1 1/2 c lentils
1 lg. onion
1 T parsley
1 t celery seed
2 c. flour
2 eggs
1/2 t salt
6 T water

Recipe Directions for Chicken Pot Pie

  1. Cover chicken w/ water and cook until the meat separates from bone. Remove bones and sieve broth to remove 'ugly parts' like skin and other stuff.

  2. Use broth and add chicken, chopped onion, parsley, lentils and celery seed. Cook for 50 minutes over medium high heat.

  3. Mean while, mix eggs well. In another bowl, combine flour, and salt. Add eggs and just enough water to make a ball. Let rest 30 minuted. Divide ball in half and roll each into thin strips. slice to make noodles. Add noodles slowly, and separately. Stir often. Continue to cook 20-30 minutes.
