A delicious meal of homestyle chicken pot pie

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Pot Pie

1 Sweet onion
1 Celery stalks
2 large carrots
10 Red potatoes
14 1/2 oz of green beans
1 cup peas
3 cans of chicken broth
2 chicken bouillon cubes
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons Pepper
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 1/2 cups Half-and-half
1/2 cup Flour
1 Pie crust
2 chicken breast

Recipe Directions for Chicken Pot Pie

  1. If using raw chicken brown in a 12in skillet with about 1T butter med heat (cast iron gives best favor) you

  2. do not need to cook all the way through. Take chicken out set aside.

  3. In the same pan add a little bit more butter to sauté the onions and celery about 8 minutes until

  4. translucent. Pour in the chicken stock and add the chicken, carrots, potatoes, bouillon cubes and

  5. simmer with a lid until the potatoes are tender about 15min.

  6. While the vegetables are cooking prepare in a bowl about 1/2c. of flour and mix with 1c ? 1 ˝c of milk

  7. mixture should be thick. This will be added to the broth and vegetables when to make the gravy.

  8. Once the vegetable are tender, take the chicken out of pan and let cool and cut into bit sizes and place

  9. in the 9x13 dish. Also open and drain green beans and spread evenly in the 9x13 dish.

  10. Now whisk the milk/flour mixture into the broth this will create the gravy which should be thick if

  11. the mixture does not thicken up make a little more of the flour/milk mixture. At this time add the

  12. Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and salt if needed. Taste to see if needs more spices or bouillon. Once

  13. done pour into the 9x13 dish and cover with the pie crust. Shape crust around edges and make slits in

  14. crust. Place in warmed 350° oven and bake until crust is golden. Half way through check pie and make

  15. sure slits are still open. Let pie cool 10 ? 15 min before serving.
