You can buy ready made pie/tart shells instead of making them.

Recipe Ingredients for CHICKEN Pot Pie

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tbsp vegetable shortening
1/2 cup water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup chicken, cubed (can substitute with beef)
1/2 cup peas
1/4 cup potatoes, cubed
1/2 cup corn
1 cup cream of celery soup (can substitute with gravy)
1/4 cup onion, chopped fine

Recipe Directions for CHICKEN Pot Pie

  1. Either buy shells ready made (omit the flour, shortening, water & baking soda) -OR- Make the pastry crust (flour, shortening, water and baking soda) - let stand 1/2 hour then roll into pie shell with some left on the side for a criss cross top.

  2. Pre-boil potatoes and chicken (10 min).

  3. Combine the ingredients into pie shell. Cover pie with a criss cross top.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min or until pie begins to bubble
