Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Pot Pie

1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
0.33 cup flour
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/4 tsp pepper
2 cups chicken breast (cooked + cubed)
2 cups cooked broccoli
1 cup cooked ham, extra lean (cubed)
4 oz Mild Cheddar
2/3 cup shortening
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
3 tbsp cold water
1/4 cup orange juice

Recipe Directions for Chicken Pot Pie

  1. saute onion, thyme, pepper in butter

  2. add flour while sauteeing mix still hot.

  3. add chicken broth slowly to keep mixture warm.

  4. add cheddar, have it melt into sauce.

  5. add chicken, broccoli (cut into bits) and ham to mix.

  6. prepare dough ahead of time

  7. mix flour, salt and shortening

  8. add orange juice and cold water.

  9. knead for a small amount of time and refrigerate if not putting half of dough in pie form already

  10. add sauce/mix into pie form with half of dough spread out inside.

  11. add other half on top

  12. bake 30 min @ 350*F
