Chicken baked in a creamy mushroom sauce, with a hint of cherry flavour derived from red wine and almonds.

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Paprika

12 ounces chicken breast
10 ounces cream of mushroom soup, condensed
10 ounces mushrooms, canned
1/4 cup red wine
1/8 cup sliced almonds
1 Paprika, salt and pepper to taste

Recipe Directions for Chicken Paprika

  1. Place the chicken in a deep dish that just fits all pieces. You can brown the meat beforehand, but that adds additional fat and isn't necessary for the flavour of this dish.

  2. Combine the soup and red wine slowly, then add the mushrooms and spices. Mix in the mushrooms and pour over the chicken in the baking dish.

  3. Sprinkly the almonds over the top (these can also be roasted beforehand).

  4. Cover and bake at 325-350 for an hour and half. This is also good in a slow cooker on low to medium-low heat for about 6 hours.

  5. Serve over a bed of rice or pasta. The sauce also makes a good gravy over mashed potatoes.
