Found in "Fruit of the Spirit" Cookbook by Mom's bible study group and used whole wheat flour for topping. I also made a cream of chicken soup substitute.

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken Pan Pie with Whole Wheat topping

3 cups cooked chicken breast
10 oz frozen mixed vegetables
1 cup chicken broth
1 1/4 cups water
2 oz dried milk
2 tsp chicken bouillon
2 tbsp corn starch
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 tbsp Flax seed meal
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup butter

Recipe Directions for Chicken Pan Pie with Whole Wheat topping

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Mix water, dried milk, chicken bouillion, and corn starch in saucepan until dissolved. Bring to a simmer and thicken. Add chicken broth and set aside.

  3. Layer chicken then mixed vegetables in 2-quart casserole dish. Top with chicken broth mixture.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix self-rising flour, milk, and butter. Pour over food in casserole dish.

  5. Bake in oven for 50-55 minutes until top is golden brown. Let stand for 5-10 minutes before serving.
