This is an old family recipe, great for cool winter evenings.

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken n' Dumplings

8 cups chicken broth
8 cups water
1 lb baby carrots
4 celery stalks
2 onions
4 lbs chicken drumsticks
8 Chicken bouillon cubes
3 cups flour
3 eggs
2 cups chicken broth

Recipe Directions for Chicken n' Dumplings

  1. Combine water and chicken broth in large stockpot.

  2. Quarter onions and cut celery into large chunks.

  3. Add chicken, bouillon cubes, onion, carrots, and celery.

  4. Cook chicken for about an hour or until done.

  5. Remove chicken and set aside to cool.

  6. Strain chicken stock removing onions, carrots, and celery.

  7. Debone chicken and return to chicken stock.

  8. Combine flour, eggs, and enough chicken broth to form a stiff dough.

  9. Fold and knead dough three times.

  10. Take some excess flour and spread it over a large flat surface.

  11. Roll dough and cut into 2"x2" squares using a pizza cutter.

  12. Return chicken stock to a boil and add dumplings.

  13. Cook for 30 minutes and serve.
