Recipe Ingredients for Chicken and Macaroni Casserole

3 tbsp margarine
3 tbsp flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 1/2 cups cooked chicken, diced
1 cup cooked elbow macaroni
1/2 cup cooked frozen peas
1 egg, hard-cooked, sliced
1/4 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Chicken and Macaroni Casserole

  1. Melt butter over low heat; slowly blend in flour, salt and pepper - stirring until smooth and bubbly. Gradually add chicken broth; cooking over medium heat stirring constantly until mixture thickens and begins to boil.

  2. Place cooked chicken, cooked macaroni, cooked peas, and egg slices in a 1 1/2 - 2 quart casserole dish.

  3. Pour hot chicken sauce/gravy over chicken and macaroni mixture. Sprinkle with breadcrumbs and then top with parmesan cheese.

  4. Bake at 375 for 25 - 30 minutes, or until browned and bubbly.
