Chicken and Dumplings Recipe

Old fashioned, comfort food favorite.

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken and Dumplings

1 1/4 cup Bisquick
1/3 cup milk
4 cups chicken stock
2 1/2 cups frozen vegetables
2 1/2 cups chicken, cooked and shredded
2 T butter
2 T flour
1/4 cup cream

Recipe Directions for Chicken and Dumplings

  1. In a large pot, melt the butter.

  2. Add flour and cook until lightly browned.

  3. Add chicken stock, whisking constantly. Sauce will thicken as it comes to a boil.

  4. Add frozen vegetables, chicken and cream.

  5. Bring it to a boil.

  6. In a separate bowl, mix Bisquick and milk until a soft dough forms.

  7. Drop dough, by spoonful onto the boiling mixture (should make 5 dumplings).

  8. Bring temperature down to low and cook uncovered, 10 minutes.

  9. Cover and cook and additional 10 minutes.

  10. Serve hot.
