Just like Grandma used to make it..... From Scratch

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken and Dumplings, Homemade

3 cups self rising flour
3 tablespoons crisco shortening
1 cup 2% milk
12 oz chicken breasts, bone and skin removed
1 1/4 tablespoons sea salt

Recipe Directions for Chicken and Dumplings, Homemade

  1. Boil bone in chicken breast for 45 minutes

  2. Remove Chicken from the pot

  3. Fill enough hot water into the pot to make it half full

  4. Salt and Pepper to taste the water

  5. Bring to a boil

  6. In a bowl add 3 cups self rising flour

  7. Cut in 3 tablespoons of Crisco shortening

  8. Cut in the Milk (DO NOT STIR - makes hard dumplings)

  9. *You should have the consistency of playdoh*

  10. Use a spoon to make tablespoon size dough balls

  11. Drop each ball in to the boiling water moving quickly

  12. Boil uncovered for 10 minutes

  13. Simmer Lid on for 10 minutes

  14. Shred and add Chicken to your dumplings
