Whole wheat rotini in a milk-based tomtato sauce with brocolli, chicken, and parmesan cheese

Recipe Ingredients for Chicken and broccoli pasta

2 cups rotini
1 1/2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup nonfat milk
1 1/2 cups broccoli florets
6 oz chicken breast
10 oz stewed tomatoes
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon salt
1 Fresh basil leaves

Recipe Directions for Chicken and broccoli pasta

  1. Bring 1 cup water, 1 cup nonfat milk to a boil.

  2. Add Italian seasoning and flour; stir.

  3. Add 2 cups whole wheat rotoni and cook, covered, for 10 minutes.

  4. Add broccoli and stir, uncovered, for 3 minutes.

  5. Add drained stewed tomatoes (about 1/3 of large can) and parmesan cheese, stirring for about 2 minutes until tomatoes are warmed through.

  6. If desired, in a skillet, saute sliced chicken breast in an olive oil cooking spray. Add to pot with tomatoes and paremsan.

  7. Serve, sprinkled with fresh basil leaves.
