This is another grain dish which I invented during my stay in Nordic States. An alternative dish to be served as main dish or side dish with vegetable dishes or rich salads or just plain yogurt.

Recipe Ingredients for Chick pea - Barley Pilav from Olga's Healthy Choice

1/2 cup brown rice
1/2 cup barley
1 cup chick pea
100 g onion
1 tbsp canola oil
1 clove garlic
1 tsp ginger
1 tbsp raisin
1 tsp curry
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper

Recipe Directions for Chick pea - Barley Pilav from Olga's Healthy Choice

  1. Please prepare all the grains as pre-boiled.

  2. In a pan pure oil, add sliced or chopped onions along with spices. After roasting onions, add freshly chopped garlic and ginger, and raisin. After frying 5 minutes, add all the grains pre-boiled and drained grains and roast all together another five minutes adding 1/4 cup of hot water.

  3. Before serving you may decorate with fresh herbs to taste or add just a Dried Greek garden mixture of herbs after you cooked.
