Recipe Ingredients for Chewy Peanut Butter Granola Bars

2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup flax seed
1/3 cup brown sugar
1 cup whole wheat or all purpose flour
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup honey
1 egg, beaten
2/3 cup natural peanut butter (we prefer chunky!)
1 tblsp milk or water in case dough is too dry
1/2 cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips

Recipe Directions for Chewy Peanut Butter Granola Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350.

  2. Grease a 9x13 pan.

  3. In a large bowl, mix together the oats, wheat germ, flax seed, flour, brown sugar and salt.

  4. Add the honey, egg, and peanut butter.

  5. Mix until well-blended.

  6. If dough is too dry, add a little milk or water a tablespoon at a time. The dryness depends on the moistness of your natural peanut butter.

  7. Pat dough evenly into pan.

  8. Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes or until edges start to turn golden.

  9. Let the bars cool for 5-10 minutes and then cut while still warm.

  10. Cool completely and store in an airtight container.
