good filling snack. you can also spread 100% fruit jam on top before baking agave can be substituted with maple syrup coconut oil can be substituted with canola or corn oil (which are more technically macrobiotic; coconut is tropical)

Recipe Ingredients for Chewy Oat Bars - macrobiotic

1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/4 cups agave syrup
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cups walnut pieces
1/2 tablespoon cinnamon
1/4 tablespoon nutmeg
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Recipe Directions for Chewy Oat Bars - macrobiotic

  1. mix dry ingredients

  2. in separate bowl mix syrup, oil and vanilla

  3. combine with dry

  4. mix well

  5. spread in a pyrex baking dish like a pie crust

  6. cover with jam if desired
