Recipe Ingredients for chewy double chocolate cookies

3/4 cup margarine, softened
1/2 cup apple sauce
1 1/4 cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups whole wheat flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for chewy double chocolate cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. In a large bowl, cream together margarine, apple sauce and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; stir into the creamed mixture until just blended. Mix in chocolate chips. Drop by the tablespoon full (cookie scoop) onto ungreased cookie sheets.

  3. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven. Cool for a couple of minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
