Dates & nuts baked in a yellow cake mix.

Recipe Ingredients for Chewy Date Nut Bars

12 serving Yellow Super Moist Cake Mix
6 oz. Margarine, melted
2 large Egg, White
3/4 cup, packed Sugars, Brown
2 cup Dates
2 cup Chopped Walnuts

Recipe Directions for Chewy Date Nut Bars

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

  2. Grease 13"x9"x2" baking pan.

  3. In mixing bowl, combine dry cake mix and brown sugar.

  4. Add melted margarine & eggs.

  5. Beat on med. speed for 2 minutes.

  6. Combine dates & walnuts.

  7. Stir into batter (batter will be stiff).

  8. Spread into prepared pan.

  9. Bake for 35-45 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

  10. Cool on wire rack for 10 minutes.

  11. Run knife around sides of pan ro loosen bars.

  12. Cool completely before cutting.
