Whole wheat pizza crust with turkey pepperoni, red onion and green peppers. Makes 2 medium pizzas.

Recipe Ingredients for Cheesy Whole Wheat Pizza with Pepperoni & Veggies

1/4 ounce active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/2 tsp brown sugar
2 tbs olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup tomato sauce
2 cup low fat mozzarella
2 oz turkey pepperoni
1/2 cup red onion
1/2 cup green pepper

Recipe Directions for Cheesy Whole Wheat Pizza with Pepperoni & Veggies

  1. Dissolve yeast and brown sugar in warm water; let sit for 10 minutes.

  2. Stir the salt and oil into the yeast mixture, then add to the flour. Knead for several minutes until the dough is smooth (add additional flour to keep dough from sticking).

  3. Let dough rise in a covered, greased bowl (use spray) in a warm place for one hour. Dough should be doubled in size. Punch down dough and form into a tight ball; let rest for a few minutes.

  4. Divide dough in half and roll/shape onto pizza stone (or pan). Let rest while oven preheats to 400 degrees. Prick surface of crust with a fork, and par-bake for 5-7 minutes.

  5. Remove pizza from oven and top however you like. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the cheese and crust begin to brown.
