Traditional Recipe for cretan cheese pies.

Recipe Ingredients for Cheese Pies, Cretan

1000 grams Mizithra, Cheese, Cretan
1000 grams Wheat Flour, White, All-purpose, Unenriched
2 large Egg, Whole
1 Glass Water
0.33 cup Olive Oil

Recipe Directions for Cheese Pies, Cretan

We mix together the oil along with the flour and the water until we create a pretty tight dough. If the dough is not steady we add more flour. When its ready we put it aside and we create the filling for the pies. To create the filling we mix together the eggs with the mizithra cheese. Then we take the dough and using a rolling pin we create a thin (~0.5cm) dough. We use the mouth of a round glass to cut the dough into smaller round pieces. Using a spoon we put the cheese filling inside each round dough at the center and then we close the dough creating a halh-circle. We press the edges with a fork in order not to let the cheese flow out when it is fried. We put some oil in a pan and when the it boils we put the pies inside until they change colour. The cheese pies are ready. This ingredients create about 40 pieces. The pies can be eaten hot with some honey on top of them as a desert or just as they are as an appetizer. Don't forget to incorporate the nutrional facts from frying them.
