It is a cheese burger pie made with Quinoa instead of starchy potato.

Recipe Ingredients for Cheese burger pie with a healthy twist

1 cup Quinoa
8 oz ground beef
16 oz vegetable broth
3 oz american cheese

Recipe Directions for Cheese burger pie with a healthy twist

  1. Cook 1 cup of Quinoa in 16 oz of vegetable broth according to the directions on the package.

  2. Brown your beef. The leaner the better. It should resemble crumbles.

  3. When the beef is cooked all the way through, cover the bottom of your serving dish with it.

  4. Cover the layer of beef with 2-3 slices of American cheese (I like Kraft - but thinly sliced American from the deli is probably better and less calories).

  5. Cover the cheese layer with the Quinoa.

  6. Slice your remaining cheese into thin strips and make an X pattern across the top.

  7. This recipe can be served right away, heated int he microwave, or in the oven depending on your serving dish.
