Wheat bread with a hint of cheddar flavor

Recipe Ingredients for Cheddar wheat bread

6 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 cups 2% milk, warm
1/2 cup warm water
3 tsp yeast
3 tsp sugar
2 tsp sea salt
3 T melted butter
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Recipe Directions for Cheddar wheat bread

  1. Proof yeast in the warm water (about 10 minutes, or until creamy)

  2. In stand mixer with dough hook attachment, combine milk, sugar, salt and butter on medium speed.

  3. Add yeast mixture.

  4. Slowly add flour, one cup at a time. You may not need all of the flour or you may need a little extra.

  5. Continue to knead on low speed until a ball of dough is formed. Knead dough until dough springs back when an indentation is pushed into dough. Dough should look smooth

  6. Grease large bowl. Place dough into bowl and turn once to coat dough or spray top with cooking spray.

  7. Allow to rise in warm place for 1 1/2 hours.

  8. Punch down. Knead in shredded cheese. Form into two loaves. Allow to rise and additional 45 minutes.

  9. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30-45 minutes.

  10. *You may brush with an egg wash prior to baking to give your bread a nice sheen.
