Out of this world, amazing home-made flat, pan bread.

Recipe Ingredients for Chapati

140 grams Stone Ground 100% Wholemeal Plain Flour
1 cup White Flour, Unbleached
0.33 cup Olive Oil
1 tsp Sea Salt

Recipe Directions for Chapati

  1. Sift flours, removing any hull. Add salt.

  2. Gradually add water to flour/salt mix, combining by hand to form soft, elastic dough.

  3. Separate dough into balls slightly larger than golf balls, rolling each one until smooth.

  4. Roll out each ball separately until a 3-4mm thin sheet, dabbing evenly with oil and folding into a square of four layers.

  5. Roll out folded squares separately into a thin sheet about 2-3mm thick, and put onto medium-high hot, dry frying pan/griddle.

  6. Allow bread to become translucent, and flip over, sprinkling very lightly with oil and then flipping to sprinkle other side with oil too.

  7. Allow to cook, turning over as needed, until dark brown and golden patches form on surface of bread, and it puffs up.

  8. Cook all breads in this fashion, and enjoy with butter, curry... whatever you like!
