seed are optional sugar can be subsituted with honey

Recipe Ingredients for challah

5 tsp yeast
4 c flour
2 eggs
1/4 c oil
3 t sugar
1 c water
2 tsp anise seed
1 tsp sesame seed

Recipe Directions for challah

  1. yeast & 1/2 c warm water & 1 tsp sugar sit till big & bubbly

  2. while you add 4 c flour to a big bowl.

  3. make a big hole in the center of the flour.

  4. Add oil, eggs, salt, seeds, 1/2 c water, yeast

  5. kneed dough 7-mins till the dough fights back

  6. cover in oiled bowl 1.25 hrs

  7. punch down. divide into 8 peices.

  8. roll four peices out and braid them

  9. repeat for 2nd loaf

  10. rise 1 hour

  11. coat with egg glaze and additonal sesame if desired.

  12. bake 375-oven for 35-mins
