My HR Director gave me this recipe, and it was delicious!

Recipe Ingredients for Celia's Cinnamon-Braid Breakfast Pastry

4 cups All purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1 package yeast
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 egg
1 tbs vanilla
1/2 cup sugar
8 tbs
7 oz
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tbs brown sugar
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1/4 cup water

Recipe Directions for Celia's Cinnamon-Braid Breakfast Pastry

  1. Put the yeast in the 1/2 cup warm water for 15 mins.

  2. Sift the flour. Add the spices & sift again.

  3. In separate bowl mix the wet (egg, nilla, sugar, and butter)

  4. Mix the yeast water into the flour lightly.

  5. Add the wet gradually to the dry.

  6. Flour up the counter & knead the dough for 3 mins (NO LONGER). Add some flour if needed to make it plyable.

  7. Put the bread back into the big bowl you mixed it in (I spray it down with PAM first). Cover with a damp towel & let rise for 60-75 mins.

  8. Punch it down & then roll it out flat with a rolling pin.

  9. Preheat the oven to 325

  10. Cut the long flat dough into three 11"x7" rectangles.

  11. Cut each rectangle into three long pieces.

  12. In another bowl, mix brown sugar with the cream cheese & a little cinnamon.

  13. put a nice line of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each of the long strands of dough & wrap them up into tubes (cheese in the center of course).

  14. Pinch the three tubes together at one end and braid the three tubes.

  15. Place on a baking sheet and let rise for another 10-20 mins

  16. Bake for 30-35 mins

  17. Put the confectioners' sugar and water together.

  18. After the bread is done just drizzle it over top. I like it thin bc I'm not big into sugar but you can always make it thicker like icing.

  19. Serve with coffee!
