This is based on the soup recipe for the Cabbage Soup Diet. As written, it has about 80 calories per 1 cup serving. You can add roasted chicken, hamburger, or stew meat to make it a more complete meal. Add more or less seasoning to taste, and your own choice of vegetables, brown rice or pasta. The actual diet is listed below the recipe directions.

Recipe Ingredients for Caryn's Cabbage Soup

1/2 c green onions , coursely chopped
2 green bell peppers, coursely chopped
29 oz (2 cans) stewed tomatoes
1/2 c celery, sliced
1 c mushrooms, sliced
1/2 c carrots, sliced
1/2 head cabbage, chopped
28 g (1 pkg) dry onion soup mix
8 g (2) beef or chicken bouillon cubes (optional)
48 oz V8 juice
1 t pepper
2 T parsley
1/2 t curry
2 t garlic, minced

Recipe Directions for Caryn's Cabbage Soup

  1. Put all ingredients in a slow cooker or stock pot.

  2. Simmer or slow cook until vegetables are tender.

  3. Eat all you want, whenever you want.

  4. First Day - All fruit is fine, except bananas; soup

  5. Day 2 - Any and all vegetables, baked potato with butter for dinner; soup

  6. Day 3 - Combine Day 1 and 2, without potato; soup

  7. Day 4 - Up to six bananas, all the skim milk you want; soup

  8. Day 5 - 10 to 20 ounces of beef, a can of tomatoes, 6 to 8 glasses of water; soup

  9. Day 6 - All the beef and vegetables you want; soup

  10. Day 7 - Brown rice, unsweetened fruit juices and vegetables; soup

  11. Note: No bread, alcohol, or carbonated beverages - not even diet soda
