sub cream for light cream or carnation light and creamy and use wholemeal fettucinne. the recipe program wouldn't let me add these. as i am cooking for a family of 5 i have to make sure i weigh out my food and eat the same as everyone else so i have to change ingredients to suit my needs. I add mushrooms to the bacon for a bit of variety. you can saute with white wine and add onion with the garlic if you want.

Recipe Ingredients for carbonara

50 g bacon
2 cloves garlic
1/2 cup cream
400 g spaghetti
2 eggs
1 pinch salt
1 black pepper
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for carbonara

  1. remove fat and rind from bacon cut into strips

  2. crush peel and and chop garlic

  3. cook bacon in frying pan until crispy

  4. add garlic and saute

  5. pour in cream and mix well

  6. cook pasta in boiling salted water

  7. beat eggs salt pepper and parmesan together

  8. add drained pasta to the pan with bacon and cream mixture mix well

  9. add egg mix toss it through until well combined

  10. cook for a couple of minutes to set the eggs

  11. serve immediatly.

  12. sprinkle with parmesan.
