Recipe Ingredients for Caramelized Baked Chicken

3 pounds chicken thighs
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
2/3 cups honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp red pepper

Recipe Directions for Caramelized Baked Chicken

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. Dab chicken with a paper towel to remove moisture from the skin. It will help the sauce stick to it better.

  3. Place chicken in a 9x13 baking dish lined with tin foil. Otherwise, cleanup is messy.

  4. In a small sauce pan, mix together the oil, soy sauce, ketchup, honey, lemon juice, garlic, and pepper. Bring to a boil then reduce heat for a minute or two.

  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken.

  6. Cover baking dish and bake for 40 minutes. Turn and baste chicken at the 20 minute mark.

  7. Remove cover, flip chicken again, baste and bake for another 15 minutes.

  8. Crank up the heat to 450 degrees F and bake uncovered for another 5 minutes or until sauce is caramelized.
