Homemade caramel sauce - great for dipping apple slices or for over ice cream.

Recipe Ingredients for Caramel Sauce

1 cup Sugars, Granulated
6 tbsp Butter
8 tbsp Heavy Cream

Recipe Directions for Caramel Sauce

  1. In a heavy bottom pan, put 1 cup of sugar. Melt over moderately high heat, stirring vigorously from the time the sugar starts to melt, until it is completely melted (amber).

  2. Whisk in 6 tbsp butter.

  3. Once butter is completely melted, remove from heat. Count to 3 and whisk in 1/2 cup heavy cream.

  4. Allow to cool slightly in the pan.

  5. Pour into glass jars and cool to room temperature. Remember to use pot holders to handle the jars.
