Different Types of Doughnuts

Whether you’re getting your favorite Doughnut at the local Dunkin Donut’s or Krispy Kreme to go along with your morning coffee or buying one at your local coffee shop for dessert, eating one will add a great amount of calories to your daily calorie total. Depending on the type of donut, it can contain anywhere from 200 to 700 calories, if not more. There are a variety to choose from, including glazed, jelly and cream stuffed, fudge covered, icing and sprinkles, or apple, just to name a few. Whatever the choice, it is filled with calories, carbohydrates, and fat and is not the healthiest option. If you do need to satisfy your sweet tooth once in a while, however, there are a few options.

Choosing Healthier Doughnuts

Low calorie doughnuts can be hard to come across. Generally, less sugar, glaze, and stuffing added to a doughnut means that it will be lower in calories. Another great way to cut the calories is to share it with someone. Slitting a doughnut into two or four pieces will allow you to consume less of it while still getting that sweet taste, and allow you to enjoy it with friends.
