Popular Canadian Food Dishes

Poutine is one of the most popular Canadian food dishes. It originated in Quebec and has spread throughout the country. It is compromised of French fries, cheese curds, and sometimes meat covered in gravy which adds up to a lot of Canadian calories. Fast food restaurants like McDonalds and Burger King mass-produce poutine for sale in their outlets in Canada. Montreal has two dishes to its name. One is the Montreal-style bagel which is typically handmade in a wood-fire oven in full view of the customer. The other is Montreal-style smoked meat which is just cured with more peppercorn and aromatic spices than usual. Both were brought over by Jewish immigrants from Eastern Europe.
