Bob's Red Mill Recipe for Vegan Cajun Style Red beans and Textured Vegetable Protein

Recipe Ingredients for Cajun Beans and TVP

3 cups Pinto Beans, dry
2 quarts of water
2 small Onions, chopped
8 cloves Garlic, smashed
3 cups Textured Vegetable Protein
5 tbsp Chili Powder
2 tbsp. Cumin
1 tsp Salt

Recipe Directions for Cajun Beans and TVP

  1. Soak 3 cups of dried Red beans (Kidney or Pinto) overnight in 6 cups of water. Drain and rinse well.

  2. Cook soaked beans in kettle with onion, garlic and 3 quarts of boiling water. After beans have cooked 45 minutes, add TVP, Chili Powder and Cumin. Continue cooking beans until tender, 20-40 minutes. Most of the liquid should have cooked into the beans and TVP. Taste and add salt.
