Recipe Ingredients for Cadbury Easter Eggs

1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
12 oz. milk chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening

Recipe Directions for Cadbury Easter Eggs

  1. Combine corn syrup, butter, vanilla and salt in large bowl. Beat well with electric mixer.

  2. Add sugar, one cup at a time, mixing by hand after each addition.

  3. Remove about 1/3 of the mix and place in small bowl. Add yellow food coloring (6-8 drops) and stir. Cover both mixes and refrigerate at least 2 hours.

  4. When mixes are firm, roll a small ball from the yellow filling and wrap around it a portion of the white filling that is twice that size.

  5. Form into the shape of an egg and place onto a cookie sheet that has been lined with waxed or parchment paper.

  6. Repeat with remaining ingredients. Refrigerate 3-4 hrs.

  7. Combine chocolate chips with shortening in glass bowl.

  8. Microwave on half power for 2 minutes. Then stir and microwave another minute. Allow to cool for a few minutes before dipping.

  9. Use a fork to dip each center into the chocolate. Place candy onto wax paper to dry. For extra thick coating, after 1-2 hours of chilling, dip each candy one more time and chill. (Microwave more chocolate for this if necessary).
