Recipe Ingredients for Cabbage Rolls

2 lb. cabbage
1 lb. 93% lean ground beef
1/4 c brown rice, cooked
1/2 c carrot
1/2 c onion
4 garlic cloves
2 tbsp. rosemary
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
16 oz. tomato sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar

Recipe Directions for Cabbage Rolls

  1. Wash and core cabbage.

  2. Remove 10 large outside leaves and set aside. Chop the rest of the cabbage.

  3. Parboil the 10 leaves until just tender and set aside.

  4. Process carrot, onion, garlic, rosemary, salt and pepper until finely chopped.

  5. Mix, meat, veggies, and rice as you would for meatloaf.

  6. Take each leaf and fill with 1/3 c. meat mixture. Wrap leaf around filling and set into an 8 1/2 x 11 pan with seam down. Set with a toothpick if needed.

  7. Pour 1/2 c water into dish.

  8. Add the rest of the cabbage on top. Add s

  9. salt and pepper.

  10. Cover with foil and bake at 375 for 45 minutes.

  11. While baking, mix tomato sauce and brown sugar. Simmer until sugar is melted and sauce is well blended.

  12. When timer goes off, top rolls with sauce and bake 15 minutes more.

  13. Serve nice and hot with more veggies.
