Recipe Ingredients for Cabbage, Potato and Sausage Casserole

1 head of cabbage
1 medium red onion
1 lb ground chicken
1 cup half and half
6 small potatoes, scrubbed clean
2 cups shredded mozzarella
1 can tomato paste
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil

Recipe Directions for Cabbage, Potato and Sausage Casserole

  1. Preheat oven to 350

  2. Quarter and core cabbage

  3. Boil for 5 minutes, then rinse in cold water

  4. Slice potatoes and onion very thin

  5. Heat chicken sausage in pan

  6. Add can of tomato paste and an equal amount of water

  7. Mix well

  8. Build the casserole with a layer of cabbage, a layer of onions, salt and pepper, a layer of potatoes, a thin layer of the sausage/sauce mixture, and top with cheese

  9. Repeat

  10. Top with cabbage, then more cheese

  11. Pour half and half over the casserole

  12. Bake covered for 45 minutes

  13. Uncover, then bake until cheese browns

  14. Allow to cool slightly, then serve
