Recipe Ingredients for Butterscotch Brownies

1/2 cup shortening
2 cups brown sugar (packed)
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt

Recipe Directions for Butterscotch Brownies

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Heat shortening over low heat until melted; remove from heat. Mix in brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread in greased 9 x 12 inch pan. Bake 35 minutes. Cut into about 2-inch squares while warm. (Carefully run knife around the edges right after removing from oven.)
