Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Waffles

2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
4 large eggs, separated
1/4 cup vegetable oil
2 cups buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Waffles

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat the egg yolks, oil, and buttermilk with a whisk until foamy.

  2. With an electric mixer, beat the egg whites in a separate bowl until soft peaks form. Pour the buttermilk and egg yolk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring just until moistened. Fold in the whites until no streaks are visible.

  3. Cook according to waffle-iron instructions -- for about 4-5 minutes on a lightly greased waffle iron.
