Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Oat Scone

1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. rolled oats
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 c. buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Oat Scone

Stir together oats, sugar, soda, and salt. Cut in shortiening until crumbly. Combine egg with buttermilk; stir into flour mixture to form dough. Knead dough gently into a ball on a floured board.Pat into a buttered 9" round cake pan.Whisk together egg, 1/2 tsp. salt and brush over scone. Sprinkle with 2 tbsp. rolled oats. Bake in 425 degree oven for 15-20 min.
