Has butter milk and sour cream really great.

Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk cornbread

1 3/4 cups cornmeal
2 1/4 cups unbleached flour
2 tbs granulated sugar
2 tsp baking powder
3/4 tsp table salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup sour cream
2 large eggs
3 tbs unsalted butter

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk cornbread

  1. Heat cast iron skillet in oven at 425.

  2. When very hot add butter and pour off when melted, butter may brown.

  3. Bring 1/2 cup water to a boil and add 1/2 cup cornmeal. Mix to mush.

  4. Whisk together dry ingredients.

  5. Add dry ingredients to wet

  6. Stir just to moisten

  7. Por in very hot skiillet

  8. Bake 18-20 min
