Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Chocolate Bread

  1. Begin by preheating the oven to 350 degrees (Fahrenheit). In a small mixing bowl, add dry ingredients (flour, salt, cocoa, baking soda, and baking powder). Mix well and set aside.

  2. In a medium mixing bowl cream the butter and sugar together. Add eggs one at a time and mix well between additions.

  3. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in the mixing bowl. If the mixture becomes too thick to stir, begin adding some of the buttermilk and continue adding the dry ingredients. Once all dry ingredients are added, pour in the remainder of the buttermilk.

  4. Lightly grease the bread pans and pour batter in. Bake for 50-60 minutes and let cool for 10 minutes after done.
