This is an adaptation of one of Paula Deen's recipes

Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Buscits

1 package yeast
1/2 cup water
5 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 tablespoons sugar
3/4 cup Smart Balance Butter
2 cups buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Buscits

  1. Preheat Oven to 400 degrees

  2. Mix lukewarm water together with yeast and set aside.

  3. Mix together all dry ingredients

  4. Cut in Butter until it looks like tiny peas

  5. create a well in the center

  6. pour into well the yeast water and Buttermilk

  7. mix well

  8. Turn out onto floured board and knead lightly for just a few turns

  9. Roll out to half inch thickness

  10. Cut out with small buscit cutter

  11. Place on ungreased cookie sheet bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown
