Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Biscuits

1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 tbsp cold Blue Bonnet light margarine
1 1/2 tablespoons dry buttermilk
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon water

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Biscuits

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add buttermilk; stir just until the dough clings together.

  2. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently, about 10-12 times. Roll to 1/2-in. thickness; cut with a floured 2-in. round biscuit cutter. Place 1 in. apart on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 for 11-12 minutes or until lightly browned. Serve warm.

  3. Yield: about 9 biscuits

  4. Prep: 25 min. Bake: 15 min.
