Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Biscuits

2 cups self-rising flour
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Biscuits

  1. Fill a bowl with flour. Make a well in flour and put all ingredients except flour in well.Mix together.Knead gently, coating outside with flour as you go. Break off even sized pieces and roll into small balls, turning under edges as you go. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for about 15 minutes, or until golden brown.

  2. Makes 12 biscuits.
