Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Biscuits

4 cups flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
2 tsp. salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups buttermilk

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Biscuits

Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with fork or pastry blender. Add 1 cup milk and gently stir to moisten flour mixture. Add more milk as needed to form a soft, sticky dough. Turn out on floured surface and gently press out until dough is 1 inch thick. Cut with biscuit cutter and place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 400* for 12 - 15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
