Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Biscuits

3/4 c buttermilk
1 T oil
1 c whole wheat pastry flour
1 c flour
1 T sugar
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 t baking soda
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 T butter, cold and cut into pieces
1 T milk, for brushing

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Biscuits

  1. preheat oven to 425. coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.

  2. Combine buttermilk and oil. Whisk flours, sugar, baking powder, soda and salt in a large bowl. Cut in butter. Make a well in the center and pour in the buttermilk mixture, stirring with a fork until just combined.

  3. Transfer dough to a floured surface. Lightly knewad dough 8 times, pat/roll to an even 3/4 " thickness. Cut into 2" rounds. Put on baking sheet. Brush with milk.

  4. Bake 12-16 minutes.
