Buttermilk Biscuits Recipe

This is from the old Better Homes & Gardens cookbook. Made with whole wheat pastry flour :) 1/4 c. sugar is added so that they are shortcake biscuits, if using with chicken & biscuit just omit the sugar.

Recipe Ingredients for Buttermilk Biscuits

2 cups whole wheat pastry flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 c. sugar
4 tbsp butter, cubed
1 cup skim milk, soured

Recipe Directions for Buttermilk Biscuits

  1. Pulse first 5 ingred. (4 if not using sugar) in a food processor, add butter and pulse till coarse crumbs form.

  2. Dump into mixing bowl, add sour milk. Mix just till all is moistened (do NOT overmix)

  3. Drop onto greased or parchment lined baking sheet with two spoons.

  4. Bake @ 450*F for 15-20 minutes
