Recipe Ingredients for buttermilk biscuits

2 cups Enriched Bleached Pre-Sifted Flour
1 tsp salt
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vegetable oil
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup shortening
3/4 cup buttermilk

Recipe Directions for buttermilk biscuits

  2. 1. Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and soda together into mixing bowl.

  3. 2. Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. 3. Add buttermilk all at once, and stir just until dough follows fork ariund bowl.

  5. 4. Pat out 1/2 or 1/2-inch thick on lightly floured board, and cut with biscuit cutter.

  6. 5. Place on greased baking sheet; brush lightly with melted fat, and bake in a very hot oven (450 degrees F.) about 15 minutes.
